Bingo Hall Re-vamp Worth £1 Axed

The Byron Bingo Club in Hucknall was due for a ₤1 million re-vamp that has been axed. The owner of the club, Tharmalingam Sritharan, otherwise known as Sri, was in a business relationship with Stylus Sports, to commence with an ambitious upgrade and re-launch for later this year. Strangely enough, Stylus Sports are also the owner of the Deluxe Bingo club in Southend that recently closed its doors on its staff with no notice.

Sri commented that Stylus had aimed too high and the relationship between himself and them had now ended. It would have meant that the bingo club would have to merge with the Byron Cinema which is part of the same building. He said that the Byron Bingo club had been hard hit by the smoking ban that was imposed last year, much like many other bingo clubs around the UK. But he is planning a publicity drive together with his management team and from this it is hoped that the fortunes of the club will be turned around. They are also going to be refurbishing the club, but on a much smaller scale than that envisaged by Stylus Sports.

Presently there is a multi-million regeneration project happening in for the town centre of Hucknall and Sri is hoping that he may be able to raise funding for his bingo club through the regeneration scheme. Stylus sports had scrapped the bingo club’s jackpot competition and at the request of loyal customers this has been revived.

I can’t help but wonder that there is some relationship between the closure of the club in Southend and this story. I have a feeling that Stylus Sports has been getting a bit too big for their boots in the UK land based bingo industry and have bitten off more than they could chew.
